The best coves on the coast of Alicante

A paradise on the Mediterranean Sea

When we least expect it we find summer and sunny days with high temperatures. Then we think about where we can go for a swim in a beautiful and quiet cove. Here are what I consider to be the best coves on the coast of Alicante, listed in a route that goes from Villajoyosa to Jávea.

1 – Racó del Conill Cove ( Villajoyosa )

Racó del Conill Cove ( Villajoyosa )

We start our journey from Alicante to Jávea in search of the best coves on the coast of Alicante, and the first most beautiful cove that we will come across is the Racó del Conill cove, located in a natural environment surrounded by large pine forests, a very beautiful area with crystal clear waters where some swimmers practice nudism (not all). It is also a suitable place for snorkelling enthusiasts, as it has rocky seabeds with lots of posidonia.

2 – Tío Ximo Cove (Benidorm)

Tío Ximo Cove (Benidorm)

The second cove we found and a must is the cove of Tío Ximo, a beautiful place increasingly frequented by tourists, a beautiful place where you can find crystal clear water. Very advisable for the days of Levante, as it is well sheltered. In the summer season, access to the beach is usually closed to vehicles, so we recommend parking at the top of the beach. Between this cove and the Almadrava cove there is an area where you can park and walk down.

3- La Mina cove ( L’Alfàs del pi, Albir )

La Mina cove ( L’Alfàs del pi, Albir )

We continue our route of the best coves of the coast of Alicante and we find the cove of Las Minas del Albir, one of the most beautiful spots without a doubt. In the days of the South we will find its calm and crystalline waters surrounded by spectacular scenery in the natural environment of the Sierra Helada park. This area of the sierra, facing north, is the greenest part of this Natural Park. From here we can contemplate, if we look towards Calpe, how the whole coastline is drawn up to the Peñón de Ifach (Calpe). One of the best ways to get to this cove is by boat, another way is by following the path to the Albir Lighthouse (about 3km), I leave you a link, as it is a very nice route to visit.

4 – Llebeig Cove ( Benitachell )

Llebeig Cove ( Benitachell )

We continue on to Benitachell to find another of the best coves on the coast of Alicante, Cala de Llebeig, a small hidden and little known cove. It is another of the jewels of our coast, thanks to its u-shape it is sheltered from the currents of the area, sheltered by the Punta de l’Adera. It is an exceptional area for snorkelling.

This cove takes us back to the 15th and 18th centuries, when the Mediterranean coast was frequented by corsairs, pirates and smugglers. In Benitachell, a little further on, we can also visit the better known cove of Moraig.

5 – The Portitxol Cove

The Portitxol Cove

We finish our route of the best coves of the coast of Alicante. We arrive in Jávea, where we find this picturesque cove with a lot of charm, the Portitxol cove, where we can contemplate the fishermen’s houses with white facades and blue doors while we enjoy an extraordinary bath. A spectacular cove with crystal clear water where you can relax, snorkel or have a drink, as there is a bar right on the beach. A little before reaching this cove you will find the more well known Granadella Cove.
